Turning today’s waste

into tomorrow’s wealth

THE BIOCARBONS FUND is a climate infrastructure fund bridging growth equity and infrastructure strategies to deliver strong financial returns while driving decarbonization in the energy, technology, industry, and agricultural sectors.

We invest in mature companies and projects deploying pyrolysis and thermochemical technologies to transform biomass, plastics, and waste into high-value production outputs: Biochar, Biofuels, Advanced Biocarbons, and Biocoal.

With a wide range of applications, these products serve key global industries and support the transition to a low-carbon economy, replacing fossil-derived materials, decarbonizing industrial processes, and permanently sequestering carbon.

Industry

The Fund supports industrial decarbonization by scaling the production of sustainable, drop-in alternatives to fossil-derived materials, including biocarbon black, activated carbon, and biocoal.

These high-value biocarbons serve as essential inputs for metallurgy, chemicals, and manufacturing, and each project is backed by long-term offtake agreements with industrial buyers seeking to decarbonise their industrial processes.

Our approach enables immediate positive impact across hard-to-abate sectors, effectively complying with regulatory constraints, while positioning the Fund at the core of a booming insutry.

Agriculture

Investments in the Agricultural vertical focus on biochar and solid biocarbons production from crop residues, manure, and other biomass, turning underutilised resources into valuable production enhancement solutions.

These projects combine tangible environmental and economic benefits, improved soil health, resilience, and yields, with durable carbon sequestration.

Each project benefits from the monetisation of verified carbon removal credits alongside stable revenues from outputs sales. Each project is structured for economic viability on product revenues alone, ensuring long-term profitability beyond credits and subsidies.

Energy

Our portfolio companies active in the Energy vertical are producing renewable liquid and gaseous energy sources generated from the conversion of biomass, plastics, and waste streams through pyrolysis processes.

This includes the production of pyrolysis oil, syngas, and biogas, which serve as low-carbon substitutes for fossil-based energy carriers. Pyrolysis oil is upgraded to gasoline, diesel, and methanol, and biofuels are deployable across transportation, power generation, and industrial heat, offering scalable pathways to decarbonize energy systems and reduce reliance on conventional hydrocarbons.
